PANAJI: After the Chimbel village panchayat passed a resolution recently supporting the setting up of Information Technology Park (IT Park) in the village, now the Merces village panchayat is also fully backing the IT Park.
Addressing media at Miramar on Sunday, sarpanch of Merces Pranita Kalangutkar, along with other panchas, said that the panchayat fully supports the IT Park.
Stating that the Merces panchayat has studied the IT Park proposal, panch Prakash Naik said that the panchayat has now realised that no development will take place in the St Cruz constituency without the IT Park. He alleged that opponents of the IT Park had ruled the constituency for the last 30 years but undertook no development.
Naik said that the Merces panchayat supports the IT Park so as to stop youth from the constituency and the whole state from moving to the metropolitan cities in the country in search of IT sector jobs. He said that the local youth will benefit the most from the IT Park.
Sarpanch of Chimbel Chandrakant Kunkolienkar, who was also present on the occasion, congratulated IT Minister Rohan Khaunte and said that the minister has promised to submit a white paper on the IT Park on Thursday.
