No change in allotment of additional portfolios

Panaji: The government Monday issued notification related to the allotment of additional portfolios to the cabinet ministers as decided by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on June 7.

After approval of Governor Mridula Sinha, the general administration department issued the notification.

Though some ministers had expressed unhappiness after the additional portfolios were proposed to them by the Chief Minister last Friday, Sawant decided to go ahead with his proposal without making any change.

While distributing additional portfolios to his council of ministers, the Chief Minister has expressed more trust in Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who got the lucrative Industries, Trade and Commerce and Law and Judiciary as additional portfolios. Vishwajit has retained Health and Women and Child Development. The Chief Minister has, however, taken away the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship portfolio from him.

Interestingly, Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar failed to get any additional portfolio.

The Chief Minister has reshuffled minor portfolios and allocated major portfolios to BJP ministers while keeping the minor portfolios with the alliance partners.

The Chief Minister has retained major portfolios such as Finance, Home, Education, Mines, Personnel, Vigilance and General Administration with him.

Mauvin Godinho, who handles Panchayat, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Protocol, has got the additional Transport and Legislative Affairs portfolios.

Another BJP leader Milind Naik, who holds Urban Development and Social Welfare, has been allocated River Navigation and Institute of Public Assistance (Provedoria) portfolios.

The Chief Minister has kept the Power and Non-conventional Energy with Nilesh Cabral and taken away his Law and Judiciary as well as Legislative Affairs departments while allotting him Environment, Science and Technology as additional portfolios.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai, who holds Town and Country Planning, Agriculture, Archives and Archaeology and Factories and Boilers, has been allocated Forest as an additional portfolio.

Rohan Khaunte, who handles Revenue, Information and Technology and Labour and Employment departments, has got Planning, Statistics and Evaluation as an additional portfolio.

Govind Gaude, who holds Art and Culture, Tribal Welfare and Civil Supplies, has been given Co-operation as an additional portfolio.

Goa Forward Party leader Jayesh Salgaonkar has been allocated Museum as additional portfolio. He already handles Housing with Housing Board, Port and Rural Development departments.

Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has been allocated the additional portfolios of Official Language and Public Grievances apart from his Tourism, Sports and Youth Affairs and Printing and Stationery portfolios.

Minister for Public Works Deepak Pauskar has been given Handicraft, Textiles and Coir and Goa Gazeteer as the additional portfolios.
