Nigerian lands in police trap with drugs worth Rs 7.03 lakh

MAPUSA: In a major breakthrough, Anjuna police arrested a Nigerian national and seized narcotic drugs  worth Rs 7.03 lakh. Acting on a tip-off, a team, under supervision of Anjuna PI C L Patil, comprising of PSI Vishwajit Chodankar, PSI Vishal Mandrekar along with police constables Anant Chari, Rama Raut, Vishal Naik, Satyendra Nasnodkar, Godish Goltekar, Tirthraj Mhamal and Pravin Patil laid a trap in Anjuna on Wednesday evening at around 8 and caught the Nigerian, identified as Eze Kelechi, 30, residing at Parra, red-handed with illegal narcotic drugs worth Rs 7.03 lakh.

Police informed that the seized drugs include suspected LSD papers worth Rs 3.05 lakh, ecstasy tablets worth Rs 3.02 lakh, ketamine worth Rs 22,000, amphetamine worth Rs 48,000 and ganja worth Rs 26,700. Anjuna police have registered an offence under Sections of 21(C), 21(b), 22(b) and 20 (b) (ii) (A) of NDPS Act and further investigation in the case is on.
