PANAJI: A special issue of ‘Nave Parva’ the official magazine of the government of Goa, has been brought out by the Department of Information and Publicity, on the occasion of the 23rd Anniversary of Goa’s Statehood.
The well designed edition of 46 pages has a message by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat and has articles on Statehood and its history. In the cover story, the article, ‘Golden Day of Goa’ by Mr Shantaram Naik, MP, traces the events that took place 23 years ago, leading to full-fledged Statehood bestowed on Goa, along with clippings from the newspapers at that time.
Another article is by Professor M S Kamat, eminent educationist, ‘Growth of education in Goa after Statehood’ which gives information of education at all levels in the state for the last 23 years. Dr J C Almeida, IAS, former chief secretary of Goa writes on, ‘Impact on Administration after Statehood’ while Mr Pramod Khandeparkar, senior journalist writes on how the Statehood gave benefits to common man.
Noted folklorist, Mr Vinayak Khedekar pens an article on ‘Socio-cultural transformation after statehood.’ The Chairman of the Law Commission, Mr Ramakant Khalap has written on ‘Legislations after Statehood,’ the law making process after Goa was made a state. Mr Suresh Walve’s article traces how the Statehood has benefited the people of Goa.
Nave Parva also gives highlights of the budget presented by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat at the last Assembly session.
There is also a special section of the important news happenings during the month of May. The magazine is edited by an editorial board which includes Mr Narendra Kumar, IAS, secretary (Information and Publicity) as chairman, Mr Vishnu Surya Wagh, Mr Suresh Walve, Mr Pramod Khandeparkar, Mr Paresh Prabhu and Mr Derek Almeida as editorial board members and Mr Menino Peres, director of Information and Publicity as executive editor of the official magazine.
The magazine will be distributed through all village libraries, panchayats and other socio cultural organisation. It is also available at the Department of Information and Publicity, Udyog Bhavan, Panaji.
