PANAJI: The Minister for Urban Development, Mr Joaquim Alemao said that most of the vendors/ shopkeepers shifted to the new municipal market complex in Panaji are as per the list prepared by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation; however, allotment of all spaces are not exactly as determined by the GSIDC, that is there is change of places of vendors from the designated places to alternate space.
Coming out with the information in the House on Thursday, the Minister for Urban development said that the Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji was required to furnish detail report on status of allotment of shops in the market.
"It is difficult to determine at this stage, the guilt of particular individual or officer, during the course of shifting of vendors or fixing rentals payable," Mr Alemao said, pointing out that execution of certain documents for allotment of space, in theory is the responsibility of the administration of the CCP, which is headed by the Commissioner of the CCP.
There is no record of allotments as to who has given allotments, although powers of allotment were with the administrative section under the Commissioner of the CCP, the Minister for Urban development said, noting that the total period involved is of around 7 years, and fixing of responsibility cannot be made final unless required detailed information is available on record of the CCP.
