MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim police, on Wednesday informed that there has been no breakthrough in connection with the case of statues and crosses that were vandalised outside the Church of Our Lady of Bethlehem.(Nossa Senhora de Belem), at Chandor.
The police informed further that some persons were questioned in this regard, however, no clues were obtained from them.
It is believed that the police are working on various theories. One informed officer said that the modus operandi employed appears to be the same as in other cases of vandalism.
Police also said that they are awaiting the report from the scientific expert whose services were employed at the scene of crime.
According to some sources in police, there are possibilities of handing this case over to the crime branch, Panaji, as such cases in the past were handed over to them.
Police team on Wednesday again visited the site and recorded some statements were recorded. It has also come to light that the miscreants have also damaged an ornamental lion fixed at a house.
