POINGUINNIM: The dead body of 22-year-old Irfan Ahmad Khan, a resident of Kunzeer, Kashmir, was found on Monday night at Colomb, Canacona, near the premises of a hotel there.
According to the police, some unknown caller intimated them about the dead body. Upon information, the police rushed to the spot and after inquest panchanama, took the body in their custody.
The police further informed that the person was learnt to be staying at Colva. They said that they are investigating the circumstances under which he happened to come to Colomb and the circumstances leading to his death. The police also informed that a bottle of poison and another one of liquor was also found near the dead body, indication suicide and desperation. These two articles have been attached by the police.
The police also told that the relatives of the deceased have been traced and accordingly have been informed about the incident.
The body has been sent for autopsy, at Margao, and a case under section 174 CrPC has been registered.
The Canacona police who accompanied the body to the Margao morgue have expressed displeasure over the condition and the availability of morgue facilities at the Hospicio hospital at Margao. They said that due to non-availability of morgue facilities, some of the bodies, including the one from Canacona, have been lying in the morgue premises, and fear that in this case they may start to decompose.
