HC grants relief to aspirant judges

PANAJI: The candidates who were declared ineligible to appear for the main written examinations for  the posts of Civil Judge Junior Division and Judicial Magistrate First Class in Goa, on account of producing incorrect  experience certificate got  a major relief from the High Court of Bombay at Goa.

The Division bench of the Bombay High Court comprising Mr Justice S J Vazifdar and Mr Justice U D Salvi has permitted the petitioners and other similar placed candidates to appear for the written test which is scheduled on May 2. One Archana Pai Bir and Sonia Mandrekar had approached the High Court after they were declared ineligible on the ground that the experience certificate produced by them was not in terms of the advertisement.
The High Court has permitted the   petitioners   and    other   similarly-placed candidates   to appear   for   the examination and their applications shall be considered, provided they produce the necessary practice   certificates from the Principal District Judge at   the District Head Quarter or from the Senior Most Judge in a Taluka Court, other than the Taluka Court   situated at the Head Quarter, by or at the time of viva voce.
The respondent has been also directed to notify the order and inform the other similar placed candidates about the date of the examination.
Earlier, it was submitted by the petitioners that the advertisement issued required that the candidates should have a minimum work experience of three years practice as an advocate.
