VALPOI: The UPA government is focusing on the development of villages and my government is following in its footsteps, said the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat after inaugurating the Velus bridge at Valpoi.
The bridge was thrown open in presence of the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr Pratapsing Rane, Health Minister, Mr Vishwajit Rane and vice-chairman of GSIDC, Mr Francisco Silveira. The new bridge has been built at a cost of around Rs 4.50 crore.
This bridge connecting Velus and Dhabos areas will reduce the distance by at least 3 kilometres and will meet the demand of the students and public at large.
Speaking further the Chief Minister said that the inauguration of such a mega structure in Sattari is itself a testimony that “we are working on the UPA policy of rural development.”
He further pledged his support for various development projects undertaken in Sattari.
The Health Minister, Mr Vishwajit while speaking on the occasion said that Valpoi constituency will develop and flourish like any other well-developed areas of Goa with the co-operation of the chief minister and the far-sighted guidance of the Speaker.
He further said, “Before the next election I will change the face of Valpoi and transform it into a classic infrastructural hub.”
Expressing gratitude for the support of the chief minister he said, “I have full faith in the chief minister and that my full support is with the present government which is committed to development.”
The Speaker, Mr Pratapsing Rane also speaking on the occasion said that education plays a major role in today’s fast developing world.
He further said, “Only infrastructural development is not enough but conserving forest and harvesting more water is also equally important.”
He stressed on the need for Charavanem dam as he felt that the future of Sattari’s agriculture will largely dependent on water from this dam.
