PANAJI: The co-ordination committee meeting of the ruling combine in the state would be held in New Delhi late on Wednesday evening to sort out differences among the constituents of the government.
The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, and the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president, Mr Subhash Shirodkar would leave the state for New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in the meeting, even as the group of seven, who comprise the allies of the Congress in the government, left for the national capital to brief their leaders and chalk out the strategy. The co-ordination committee that consists of Mr B K Hariprasad and Mr Rajiv Shukla, the All-India Congress Committee general secretary and secretary, respectively, Mr Praful Patel and Mr Prakash Binsale, the Nationalist Congress Party general secretaries, Mr Kamat and Mr Shirodkar. The committee is likely to take up the unfinished agenda of the last meeting and discuss the issue further to resolve the matter amicably.
The GPCC president told The Navhind Times on Tuesday that the meeting was expected to sort out all the issues pending before it. He said that he has apprised the Congress leadership of all the issues here and that the same would be taken up at the meeting. He refused to divulge what the issues were saying that they were political in nature.
He declined to comment on the statements made by some NCP leaders in the state that they were not happy with the decision taken at the last meeting in Mumbai, where it was decided that all parties should support the government. Their decision to raise the leadership issue has not been taken well in the Congress circles, especially as it comes in contrary to the directives issued to all not to make public statement on any issue.
Asked whether there was any demand for change in leadership, he replied that it was for the Congress high command to decide only if it was raised by the party MLAs. He, however, said the government was stable and expected that all the issues would be solved to the satisfaction of everybody.
