BICHOLIM: In the ongoing 27th Akhil Bhartiya Konkani Parishad, at Sanquelim Muncipal ground, the special events on Saturday were the symposium on different topics and the poets meet.
The topic for the symposium was the present stage of Konkani language and electronic media and Dr Harishchandra Nagvenkar presided. Dr Nagvenkar emphasised on the need of accessibility of Konkani literature on the Internet, so that anyone can access it anywhere in the world. Due to electronic the media, Konkani language has gained popularity as it has reached to the masses in the Konkani speaking states in India, Dr Nagvekar said.
Mr Gurudatta Balgiya, Mr Luis Rodrigues, Mr Mukund Zambavalikar and Mr K V Bhaskaran participated and expressed their thoughts.
The debate on the topic, ‘Youths-How far away and How near to Konkani language’ was also held. Mr Kamalkar Mhalsi, and Mr Bhushan Bhave expressed their views, in which both expressed the need of favourable situation for giving boost to enrichment of Konkani.
The poets meet which was presided over by Ms Nutan Sakhardande mesmerised the audience. Ms Sakhardande said that the great Konkani poet, late Bakibab Borkar has taken Konkani to a great height and his poems have given strength to Konkani literature and budding poets.
Those who participated and presented their poems include Mr Ramesh Veluskar, Mr Prakash Padgaonkar, Mr R S Bhaskaran, Mr Bharat Nayak, Mr Sanjiv Verenkar, Ms Nayana Aadarkar, Ms Maya Sakhardande, Mr John Aguair, Ms Nilba Khandekar and Mr G Dias.
The evening saw a symposium on the topic, ‘Konkani Shikshan, Fudarache Vision ani Mission.’ The principal, Mr Madharav Kamat presided over this and emphasised that unless there is strong foundation of Konkani language, it won’t prosper and develop to the aspiration and expectation.
Dr Madhavi Sardessai and Mr Anil Powar also participated in the symposium, and expressed the need of producing Konkani books in history and science.
The evening also saw a discussion on ‘Konkanicha Udargateetit Bayalancho Sahabhag’ in which Ms Nirmala Sawant presided and said that women have played a vital role in development of the Konkani language. She said that Konkani is the language spoken at home by Goans, specially women with their children, and this has boosted the development and social awareness.
Ms Swati Karpe, Ms Sheelavati L S and Ms Sheela Kolamkar also participated in the discussion and expressed their views.
Later a cultural programme and Konkani film show was presented. The sessions will conclude on Sunday, with discussions on various topics and a poets’ meet in memory of late Bakibab Borkar
The concluding ceremony will be held in the late afternoon, at which Dr H Shantaram will deliver his key note address.
