PILAR: The foundation stone was laid for the extension work of Fr Agnel Central School at Kanttiabhatt, Pilar, by the MLA of St Andre constituency, Mr Francisco Silveira. It was blessed by the superior general of the Society of Pilar, Fr Tony Lopes.

Superior of Goa province, Fr Kyriel D’Souza said that the Society of Pilar has been rendering yeoman service, especially in the field of education.

He said, "Initially, Pilar was Escola do Pe Agnelo, but today it has become a huge educational complex. It has helped in educating people, especially the poor children."

Mr Silveira lauded the services rendered by the Pilar fathers in different fields, especially in education. "They have moved to different villages and helped in the growth of the society. Fr Agnel Central School will be a blessing to St Andre constituency." He said that he too was a student of Fr Agnel Higher Secondary School.

Fr Lopes, promised to extend all help and support, and appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers to maintain and bring up the standard of the school. The principal of the school, Fr Anthony D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks.
