Decision making should not halt: Shantaram

CANACONA: In a coalition government problems are bound to be there, but on the principle that ‘the show must go on’ the government’s decision-making process should not be halted or delayed, said Mr Shantaram Naik, MP, at Shri Mallikarjun Complex, Canacona on Saturday evening.

Mr Naik was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Library and Laboratory Block of Shri Mallikarjun High School, Char Rasta, managed by Centro Promotor Da Instrucao, Canacona.
He said that Goa has several priority matters like the national highway, SEZ, CRZ issue, Dabolim airport expansion, Mopa airport, establishment of NIT in Goa, Special provision, special category, special cadre, etc, which have to be pursued vigorously and without showing any lethargy.
Mr Naik said that the CRZ 2010 draft notification, which has been published by the Central Government, has given Goa special consideration and, here again, if the state government plays the required role meticulously and on a war footing, then the state stands to gain, otherwise, we will loose the advantages.
The MP said that it is the Congress government that conceptualised the idea of putting funds in the hands of the Member of Parliament, so that; they exercise some authority in the matter of development.
Mr Naik said “Centro Promtor Da Instrucao is one of the oldest and well recognised institution, in Canacona taluka, and Goa and as such, “I feel privileged that I have an opportunity to help in its development.”
Mr Vijay Pai Khot, MLA, Canacona, appreciated the gesture of Mr Naik to give MPLAD funds for constructing a library and laboratory, and said that he is proud of this institution and its functioning. At the outset, Mr Vikas V Desai, engineer and president of the institution, said that the former Portuguese governor, personally took interest in giving financial aid to the institution and visited the site several times before its completion.
Mr Desai further said that the library and laboratory block will be constructed by spending around Rs 25 lakh.
Mr Desai on behalf of members and committee thanked Mr Naik for providing this scheme for the development of rural schools also thanked all the land donors and others for assisting in the all round development of the school and its students.
Mr Amol Pagui compered the proceedings, Mr Babuso Naik Gaonkar, vice president of the institution introduced the chief guest and other dignitaries, while Mr Anil K Desai, secretary of the managing committee proposed the vote of thanks.
