Curti-Khandepar deputy sarpanch ousted

PONDA: The no confidence motion moved by the six panchas of the village panchayat of Curti-Khandepar, against the deputy sarpanch, Ms Anita Naik, was passed by 6-0 votes in a special meeting held on Tuesday at the panchayat office, informed the block development officer, Mr Arvin Kuttkar.

The extension officer for panchayat, Mr Premanand Naik presided over the meeting.
According to Mr Naik, the six panchayat members, who unseated the former sarpanch, Mr Hussain Mulla and installed Mr Suraj Naik in his place, are the same who signed the no confidence motion against Ms Anita Naik. He said they are, Mr Narayan R Naik, Mr Narayan V Naik, Mr John Pereira, Mr Madhumati Garde, Ms Deepa S Naik and Mr Suraj Naik (sarpanch).
The motion was submitted to the BDO office on March 10, the day the new sarpanch, Mr Suraj Naik was elected.
In another development in the village panchayat of Wadi- Talaulim, the sarpanch, Ms Bharti N Naik has tendered her resignation from the post. It is learnt that the post of sarpanch in this lady reserved panchayat, was to be shared with two panchas and therefore she had resigned.
He further informed that the hearing on the no confidence motion submitted by the panchayat members of Borim village panchayat, against the sarpanch and the deputy sarpanch, is fixed for March 29.
