CM asks Kakodkar to be honorary advisor on energy security for Goa

PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat on Saturday requested the eminent nuclear scientist and former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission, Dr Anil Kakodkar to be the honorary advisor on energy security for Goa.

Mr Kamat was speaking at the function held to confer Dr Kakodkar with the first ever Gomanta Vibhushan award instituted by the state.   
Accepting the proposal of the Chief Minister, the nuclear scientist said, “I have worked outside Goa throughout my life. Now, there is no question of any second thinking. You tell me what we should do for the state of Goa.”
Mr Kamat also mentioned about starting a research centre in the state. He stated, “I am requesting all BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) scientists who are present here, and also to Dr Kakodkar, to starting one small research centre here in Goa. It could be established in association with National Institute of Oceanography and Goa University.”
Dr Kakodkar was bestowed with Gomant Vibhushan by the West Bengal Governor, Mr M K Narayanan at the DMK hall of Kala Academy in the presence of the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
