Children’s study tours to ISRO, DRDO missile centres

PANAJI: Goan school children are going to get a chance to visit ISRO/DRDO missile centres at Bangalore and Hyderabad, during this summer vacation. And this has been organised by the Mission Avishkar Science Centre.

The centre, which is working for propagation and training of science and technology under the guidance of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam since 2002 in Maharashtra and Goa, conducts seminars, workshops, camps and study tours at ISRO and DRDO where Dr Kalam carried out his remarkable research.
During  this summer, 15 students from Goa will be selected for ISRO – Bangalore visit for a week, as well as 15 students for DRDO- missile centre at Hyderabad, where they will interact with the scientists.
ISRO Satellite Center, ISRO Head quarters, and Byllalu – Chandrayaa-1 control centers are included in the programme, wherein ex-chairman of ISRO, Dr G Madhavan Nair, and chairman, Dr K Radhakrishnan will guide the team about various space missions of the ISRO.
At Hyderabad, directors of RCI, DRDL and DMRL will guide the children on Agni, Prithvi, Nag, Akash, Brahmos, and Astro missiles. The students from 5th std to 11th std are eligible for these visits. Selection will be made in two groups 5th   std   to  7th std and 8th std to 11th std on the basis of written and oral
exams.
