PANAJI: Sanjay Kashinath Parab has moved an application for anticipatory bail, before the High Court of Bombay at Goa, apprehending arrest in connection with the FIR filed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime on the basis of a YouTube clipping showing alleged drug dealings. The matter has been fixed for hearing on March 26.
Sanjay Parab has stated that he used to report regularly at the security wing police Head Quarters till March 18, 2010. According to him, neither the alleged video clipping nor the complaint prima facie, shows his involvement in the crime. He has also stated that at no point of time during his service, was he ever posted in the Narcotics Department of Goa Police, and that he had never worked at any point of time, under Ashish Shirodkar.
The applicant has approached the High Court under Section 438 of the CrPC, because, for offences punishable under Prevention of Corruption Act and NDPS Act, there are special judges appointed under the respective statutes.
It may be recalled that the FIR was lodged by the DySP, crime, against Ashish Shirodkar and others for offence punishable under Sections 120-B, Sec-7, 11, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
