Kalpana Dhuri was unanimously elected as the new deputy sarpanch of Chorao- Madel village panchayat on Friday at a special meeting held in the panchayat hall.
The post of deputy sarpanch had fallen vacant due to resignation of Deekshya Kundaikar from her post as per understanding between the panchas of the ruling group. Sandesh Nilore from the Tiswadi block development office (BDO) was the presiding officer.
Dhuri will hold the post of deputy sarpanch for a period of 20 months. Sarpanch Shamba Calangutkar, panch members Kamalakant Wadyekar, Deekshya Kundaikar, Babita Calangutkar, Pandhari Vernekar and Savio Colaco were present.
Mayem BJP prabhari and BJP media chief Premanand Mhambre congratulated the new
deputy sarpanch Dhuri who has sought cooperation from panchas for development of the village under the guidance of Mayem MLA Praveen Zantye.
