The ‘Navo Somar’ festival of Shantadurga was recently celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety and pomp. Vocal artistes put up various music programmes at Shri Shantadurga temple premises at Gaonkarwada, Ravalnath temple premises, Antil Peth Math Mandir and Gurudatta hall, Bahilipeth, Bicholim.
Vocal artistes Abhijeet Kosambi, Amruta Natu, Dhanajay Joshi, Mugdha Bhat and Dhanashri Deshpande presented their performances at Gaonkarwada temple while Prathamesh Laghate, Ketki Chaitanya Bramhanalkar, Samranyi Aaier and Narsinha Sane at Antil Peth and Bhailipeth.
A palanquin procession of Shantadurga Devi was taken out at Gaonkarwada and Antil Peth Math Mandir. The procession culminated near the temple premises on the next day morning.
Thousands of devotees thronged to the temple to seek blessings of deity. They offered flowers, prayers and other offerings to the deity. Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude also took part in the celebration and visited temple. A rangoli exhibition was also held at Communidade Hall and Ravalnath temple.
