Vasco: Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) convened a preliminary meeting of all the stakeholders in order to chalk out plans for the smooth functioning of Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah celebration which will be held in Vasco from August 6.
The meeting was chaired by MMC chairperson Nandadeep Raut with chief officer Gaurish Shankhwalkar, executive committee members of Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah samitti, besides other officials of various government departments, being in attendance.
MMC chief officer Shankhwalkar said, “This year the Saptah fair will be restricted to seven days. The council will chalk out plans at the meeting scheduled on July 12.”
Officials from police department, fire services, traffic cell, PWD, sewerage, IOCL, MPT, besides others, attended the meeting wherein all were urged to cooperate and coordinate in ensuring smooth Saptah celebration.
The chief officer said that there will be around 200 police personnel deployed during Saptah celebration.
The traffic police have been asked to make parking arrangements and also to monitor vehicles entry and exit in the town, with restrictions of heavy vehicles entry and exit.
“As usual CCTV cameras will be installed at various spots and watch towers will also be installed,” said Shankhwalkar, adding that, PWD has been asked to repair roads wherever necessary.
Electricity department has been asked to replace fixtures that are non-functional. Arrangements of portable toilets will also be made for devotees, it was stated.
