Modesty outrage attempt: one gets bail

MARGAO: Vinod Gopalam, who was arrested by Margao police for allegedly attempting to outrage modesty of a woman, has been granted bail by Margao court. The court has directed him to report at the police station for three days.

A woman from Kerala had lodged a complaint against the alleged accused. The victim woman is believed to be working in Dubai. As per police information, the alleged accused had told the woman that through his contacts in Goa he could help her get a Portuguese passport but on condition that she would have to meet him in person in Margao.

Police said that both came to Margao and booked two rooms in a hotel. The police said that, on Sunday, after having breakfast, the alleged accused told her that his person would come to the hotel and he would then introduce her to him.

Police said that later in the evening at around 11 p.m, the alleged accused started knocking on her door and when she opened the door he pushed himself in the room and then allegedly tried to get physical with her.

However, the woman managed to escape and sought the help of hotel employees who advised her to the police station, where she lodged a complaint. Meanwhile, a 34-year-old person committed suicide at his residence at Navelim. Margao police said that the case is under investigation.
