Six groups from across Goa participated in the Mando Festival organised by Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. This festival that was organised for the first time will be an annual affair assured chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Prashant Naik.
He said: “We Goans get excited when we get to see and hear folk performances of mando, dulpod, fugdi, talgadi, etc. It is the duty of Ravindra Bhavan to organise and promote such performances that are unique to Goa.”
Executive committee member of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, John Miranda was also present at the festival. Russel Miranda and Francis Pinto assisted in organising this event. This Mando Festival provided a platform for young artistes and new Mando groups. Groups like Goenchim Nokhetram, Curtorcares, Jardinantlim Fulam, Goychim Lharam performed traditional mandos. Ol’lechim Mogrim performed an original mando, while Pilar Music Academy Choral Group performed a polyphonic traditional mando which is rare to find in Goa.
