Resident of Porvorim, Rama Viraj Shenvi won first place in harmonium in the instrumental category at National Level Kala Utsav in Bhopal. Eight students from Goa participated in various competitions like vocal, painting, dance, instrumental music from both male and female categories, out of which Rama was selected as the winner among all states and union territories.

She has been learning the harmonium for the last three years under the guidance of Delip Gadekar, Pratibha Sangeet Kala Vidhyalaya, Guirim. “From an early age my parents included me in the values of harmonium and singing.  I have also been learning the traditional art of enlightening our society known as ‘kirtan’ and have performed across Goa and other places such as Pandharpur, Kolhapur, Akkalkot, Solapur, Narsobawadi, Mumbai, etc,” says Rama, who is learning the traditional art of the kirtan with kirtankar, Suhas Buva Vaze at Gomantak Sant Mandal Sanchalit Kirtan Vidyalaya, Ponda. Student of class nine at KB Hedgewar High School, Cujira, Rama has been awarded best student (girl) for the academic year 2019-20 by the school. Besides, she has participated in many elocution competitions and won prizes at school level, taluka level and national level.
