Shoan sets national record at Glenmark aquatic c’ship

PANAJI: On the first day of the 36th Glenmark sub junior and 46th junior aquatic championship being held in Rajkot, Goa’s Shoan Ganguly, Shrungi Bandekar and Megan De Almeida clinched medals in their respective categories. Ganguly earned two gold medals in the 200 mtr freestyle and 200 mtr medley, wherein Shoan finished the freestyle in 1:56:43 creating a national record. Shrungi on the other won a silver in the 200 mtr medley. Megan’s silver came in the 3 mtr spring board diving category.

Curtorim score three to enter St Anthony’s final

Assolda: Curtorim Gymkhana entered the final of 11th St Anthony’s Festival Cup football tournament defeating Dicarpale SC 3-1 played at panchayat grounds, Assolda on Wednesday. Joybert Almeida of Curtorim scored in the 29th minute after he made a dash for a through pass. Dicarpale responded in the second session and levelled through Agnelo Colaso. Thereafter Curtorim dominated the proceedings where they took lead in the 55th minute and two minutes later Milagres Fernandes shot the third goal through a solo effort.

World Coaches Program
begins at Duler

MAPUSA: The five day ‘World Coaches Program’ by Netherlands Football Federation (KNVB) kicked off at Duler Stadium from Wednesday. The program is organised by Goa Football Association along with Vedanta Sesa Goa. The program will see inputs from Dutch football expert Bert Zuurman who is looking forward to polish skils of the league football coaches.

Yash Fadte in pre-quarters
of Asian Jr C’ship

PANAJI: Goa’s Yash Fadte has entered the pre-quarters of the Asian Junior Squash Championship being held in Macau. Yash beat Zhou Penglin 3-0 (11-1, 11-1, 11-3) to proceed to the pre-quarter finals where he will be up against Dhruvinka Periera of Sri Lanka.
