Fr Agnelo Youth beat SDJ Areal

Chandor: Fr Agnelo Youth SC, Paroda entered the semi-finals of 45th Chandor Seamen Trophy football tournament defeating Sao Jose de Areal 6-5 via the tie breaker played at Chandor grounds on Saturday. The teams were level 2-2 during the regulation time. Paroda team went into the lead in the 10th minute through Jaison Dias, but Sao Jose de Areal retaliated quickly and levelled the score through Alviton Silva in the 17th minute. Areal’s Alviton Silva completed his brace in the 27th minute. But Fr Agnelo Youth’s Joy Fernandes found the mark in the 60th minute. In the tie breaker Fr Agnelo Youth proved to be the better shooters, scoring accurately through Kanchan Kiro, Jaison Dias, Anthony Dias and Stauton D’Costa. SJD Areal could find the mark only through Bersel Viegas, Haston Dias and Aggio Antao. Fr Agnelo Youth SC, Paroda now play Curtorim Gymkhana in the semi-finals.

Ameya, Ritviz, Devesh, Swera advance

MARGAO: Ameya Audi of Salcete Taluka has taken lead on the in the fourth round of All Goa U-19 State Championship cum Selections being held at Nehru stadium Fatorda, by scoring 4 points from 4 rounds along with Ritviz Parab and Devesh Naik. In the same round, Ameya Audi defeated Reuben Colaco with black pieces whereas on the second board Ritviz beat Saish Fondekar and Devesh Anand Naik outplayed Anvesh Bandekar on the 3rd board accordingly. In the girls category, at the end of the 3rd round, top seed WCM Swera Braganza defeated Beverly Mendonca to take lead along with WCM Chopdekar Gujnal, Tanvi Hadkonkar and Sarah Gayle Fernandes, all with 3 points from 3 rounds each.

Curtorim Villagers Cup from Sept 9

Curtorim: Curtorim Gymkhana will be organising ‘Curtorim Villagers Cup’ all goa intervillage football tournament from Sept 9 at Curtorim church grounds.
