Ritviz, Niraj in joint lead

CURCHOREM: Ritviz Parab (2235) and Niraj Saripalli (2179) took sole lead in the Goa State Open FIDE Rating Senior Chess Championship 2018, organised by Quepem Taluka Chess Association, by winning all the five rounds at CADA hall Curchorem on Tuesday. Niraj upset top seed FM Amey Audi in 68 moves, while Ritviz outplayed Devesh Naik (1688) in 44 moves.

2nd AIMA badminton from July 14

MARGAO: The 2nd AIMA National Badminton Championship conducted by All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) Western Region and organised by the AIMA Goa unit will be held on Saturday, July 14 at Multi Purpose Indoor stadium, Margao. The competition will be held in three age groups: 20-40 years; 41-50 years and 50 and above.

Ghublawada Boys U-15 football champs

CAMURLIM: Ghublawada Boys, Siolim won the all Goa U-15 football tournament, organised by Kalakhadpeshwar SCC, Muddawada Camurlim, after defeating Kingfisher Siolim in the finals played at Barajan ground, recently.

St Mary’s Convent win U-14 girls badminton

PEDDEM: St Mary’s Convent, Mapusa defeated GS Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa by 2-0 games to win the team championship in the Bardez taluka mini/secondary school badminton tournament for U-14 girls, which was organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Peddem Sports Complex. The St Mary’s Convent team comprised of Siya Dhavaskar, Synnovia Dsouza, Nysa Dhupdhale and Rachel Hallikar. Meanwhile, Chubby Cheeks Spring Valley HS, Porvorim claimed the third place defeating St Ann’s HS, Thivim by 2 -0 games.

Badminton tourney at Campal

PANAJI: Sunny Sports Club will organise an all Goa major ranking badminton tournament from July 18 to 20 at Indoor stadium, Campal. The tournament will be held in the following categories: Junior U-17/19 boys and girls singles and doubles and U-19 mixed doubles. Rapid chess at Borim

BORIM: Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya will organise an all Goa open rapid chess tournament exclusively for unrated players on July 29 at its primary school hall, Borim-Ponda. Only 200 entries will be accepted on first come first basis, and can be submitted to Wilson Cruz (9764185747) or Dilip Naik (Swami Vivekanand School) latest by July 27.
