BAFF edge past St Sebastian
MAPUSA: BAFF Sports Club managed to squeeze past St Sebastian SC Mapusa 3-2 in the GFA’s 3rd Division League-Bardez Zone, played at Tivim grounds, Sunday. BAFF went into the breather leading 2-1, as Ritesh Harijan and Parasol Diukar put them ahead while Mohiddin Khan pulled a goal for St Sebastian. On crossing over, St Sebastian levelled terms through Mitesh Diukar. However in the closing stages, Parasol Deulkar scored the match winning goal to give full points to Bicholim side.

6-a-side hockey at Navelim
MARGAO: Goa Hockey promoters in association with Navelim Hockey will organise 6-a-side hockey tournament for men at Navelim, opposite the church on October 6. Players registered with Goans Hockey are eligible to participate in the tournament. Interested teams may submit their entries to Melchior Alemao, Beny Viegas or Dexter Pereira. The entries should reach latest by October 2.

Navelim Sporting reach semis
MARGAO: Navelim Sporting had to wait till the tie-breaker to knock out Cuncolim Union 5-4 and enter the semifinals of the 33rd Gold-Silver Rolling Trophy football tournament, at Rosary grounds, Navelim on Sunday. The teams played a 1-1 draw in the regulation time. Rosario Carvalho scored to Navelim the lead which was however restored by Cuncolim’s Alistor Gomes. In the tie-breaker, Navelim scored accurately through Alistor Gomes, Samson Pereira, Derrick Gomes and Joseph Dias. Cuncolim Union could find the mark only through Krishna Shirodkar, Beston Colaco and Cliff Fernandes. Navelim Sporting now meet Verna SC in the semifinals scheduled on October 2.

Telaulim Panchayat Cup kicks off today
MARGAO: CRC Chinchinim and United Club of Benaulim will clash in the inaugural match of Telaulim Panchayat Cup, an inter-village football tournament, which begins from Monday, September 29 at Telaulim Panchayat grounds. The match will kick off at 4.45 pm.

State basketball teams for Chandigarh youth nationals
PANAJI: Goa Basketball Association (GBA) has announced the state basketball teams (boys and girls) that will participate in the Youth Nationals to be held in Chandigarh from October 7 to 14. The selected players have been asked to report to secretary Menino D’ Souza at Youth Hostel Basketball Court, Miramar on Monday, September 29 at 4 pm for completing the documentation. Boys : Saichandra, Nayaab Sheikh, Elston Pinto, Ray Cortez, Roy Pereira, Levin Monterio, Daniel Vaz, M. Doshi, George Lobo, Arash D’costa, Nathan D’ Sa and Kabir Morajkar. Girls: Gayle Gomes, Rose Rhea Rebello, Claudia Gomes, Franzila Rodrigues, Melany Gonsalves, Leandrie Rodrigues, Jesida Fernandes, Rachel Raposa, Charmaine Fernandes, Claudia Crizzle and Anoushka Morajkar.

Throwball selection trials at Valpoi
VALPOI: Goa Amateur Throwball Association (GATA) will conduct selection trials for men and women at Unity High School ground on Wednesday, October 1. The trials will be held to select state teams for the National Throwball Championship for Men and Women to be held at Haridwar, Uttranchal from November 26 to 28, and also for the 7th National Throwball Championship (men) to be held from October 25 to 26 at Chitradurga, Karnataka. Interested players may contact Abdul Khan or Nasir Khan for further details.
