Salgaocar FC’s football festival

MARGAO: Salgaocar FC will organise a football festival for the kids and parents registered in the club’s Community Outreach Programme 2014-15, on Sunday, March 8 at Chicalim Panchyat ground from 2.30 pm. Following games and contests for parents and kids alike will be held: 3-a-side tie-breaker for ladies; ball juggling contest for gents; 6 vs 6 football match (to include 3 parents and 3 children in a team) and exhibition 11 vs 11 for the parents. Parents interested in participating in the festival and who are yet to register are requested to kindly contact Nikhil Alvares.

Educational seminar for referees

PANAJI: Goa Football Association and Goa Football Development Council have started an educational seminar for all active referees, new entrants and match commissioners with an aim to impart the latest techniques in refereeing. The seminar is being held in four modules. The second module will be held on March 8 at two venues. For active referees, new entrants and match commissioners from North Goa the seminar will be held at St Xavier’s College, Mapusa while for South Goa, it will held at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda-Margao. All have been asked to compulsorily report at the venues at 8.45 am.

Sarvadnya qualify for Delhi junior badminton

PANAJI: Goa’s 7-year-old shuttler Sarvadnya Khandeparkar has qualified for the All India PNB Metlife Junior Badminton Championship 2015 which is scheduled to be held from March 23 to 25 in New Delhi. In the West zone boys singles U-9 PNB Metlife Junior Badminton tournament held recently, Sarvadnya reached the quarterfinals by defeating Dev Joshi of Maharashtra 11-3 11-1, thereby qualifying for the All India Grand Final between all the four zones to be held at New Delhi.
