Konkani comedy film ‘O La La’ to premiere on May 27

Konkani comedy film ‘O La La’ which is all about entertainment is set to hit silver screens on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The film will subsequently be screened across Goa at different venues.

The movie is a mix of entertainment, comedy, drama and suspense and is about three individuals who come together to form an event company which they name ‘O La La’. The name of the movie stems from this concept. It revolves around the intense competitive nature between two companies. The storyline weaves emotions into the script with a large dose of humour.

The cast includes Goa’s tiatrists Prince Jacob and John D’Silva and Rajesh R Pednekar who won the Best Actor award at the recently concluded Goa State Film Festival 2018. Other cast members include Tanvie Kishore, Rajiv Hede, Aryan Khedekar, C D’Silva, Spirit Fernandes and Chitra Afonso.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Panaji, one of the producers of the film, Nilesh Newalkar said: “O La La is a departure from my earlier film Nirmon which was a remake of the 1966 Konkani classic. We have attempted something very different in this film and have worked together to offer Goan viewers a slice of entertainment which includes a little bit of everything right from comedy to suspense to drama.”

Director of the film, Sripad R A Naik said: “There are many Konkani films being produced in Goa and the film culture in Goa is developing and apart from serious films we thought simultaneously there should be commercial films in Konkani language. The main aim of the film is to provide entertainment.”

Talking about his role in the film, Prince Jacob said that his role is about a person who wants to enjoy life. He further encouraged audiences to watch more Konkani cinema: “Konkani cinema is coming up now so people should go and watch Konkani films. Good days are coming for Konkani films.”

Rajiv Hede said that the perception of people towards the cinema is changing: “People always have a perception of how many viewers a Konkani film will get but I believe that if any Konkani film has a subject that is appealing to everyone it can get national and global recognition.”

Hede further said that through this film he wants to get maximum audience at the theatre. “It is a comedy film so those who come to watch the film will forget about their worries and go home happy. “

Rajesh Pednekar portrays the role of an uneducated man Robert in the film who is always on angry mode, said that the audience will love his character as it something different.

While Aryan Khedekar who plays the role of a photographer in the film said that it is a very good commercial film. “I always wanted to be a part of our own sustaining film industry in Goa,’ he added.

The film is written and directed by Sripad R A Pai and produced by Nilesh Newalkar and Manisha Newalkar under the banner of Axis Vision. Blasio Pinto, Sharmily Kashyap, Sanscarie and Siya Ghodge lent their voices to the songs in the film, while the title track has been sung by Hema Sardesai.
