Dr Karan Singh an eminent son of India has consented to deliver the fifth oration in the Vasudeva V Dempo Memorial Lecture series, said the chairman of Dempo Group of Companies Shrinivas V Dempo.
The lecture will be delivered at the Conference Hall in the group’s corporate headquarters, Dempo House, on November 26 at 11 am in commemoration of the eighteenth death anniversary of former chairman of the group Vasudeva V Dempo.
Dr Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha MP, former union minister, scion of the erstwhile princely state of Kashmir, patriot, author, spiritualist and thought leader, will speak on ‘The Four Pillars of Learning’.
The memorial lecture series has seen orations by a galaxy of personalities of esteem and accomplishment, thereby contributing to the cultural discourse of Goans, an avowed aim of the Vasantrao Dempo Education and Research Foundation, under whose aegis the oration series is held. Previous orators have been K V Kamath, late P V Narasimha Rao, J J Irani, and Dr R K Pachauri.
Dr Karan Singh, who is 85, was the Regent to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, chancellor of the state university, former president of the Indian Council of one-time member of the Lok Sabha constituency of Udhampur, a former member of the union cabinet holding portfolios as diverse as Tourism and Civil Aviation, Health, Family Planning, Education and Culture.
As Rajya Sabha member, he represents Delhi, and is also the chairman of Parliament’s Ethics Committee. Influenced by the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, Dr Singh has authored a number of writings on the yogi.
