Ave Maria – Joy of Giving Foundation celebrated its third anniversary on March 8, at the Flamingo Hall, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar.
The Foundation was established by the Gonsalves family in honour of their late parents Joao and Ana Gonsalves. Chairman of the Foundation, Oscar Gonsalves welcomed the dignitaries, awardees and other guests. Ashford Gonsalves stated that the objectives of the Foundation are many-fold; they work towards the improving family life and education, promoting agriculture, providing facilities to economically strained students and recognising achievements in different professions.
In his address chief guest, archbishop of Goa and Daman, Filipe Neri Ferrao congratulated the Ave Maria – Joy of Giving Foundation members for their excellent work towards society. He also released the current issue of the Foundation’s quarterly magazine ‘Education Challenge – Goa’ that was dedicated to the Indian Defense Forces.
At the event three luminary members in society were felicitated: Mentor at Abhyankar IAS Academy – Pune, Aashay Abhyankar who has been instrumental in guiding Goan students in preparing for the civil services and IAS examinations; former passport officer and now collector of south Goa Agnelo A J Fernandes for his outstanding service to society; and engineer and agriculturist Joaquim Vincente Vaz. Eight students from diocesan schools across Goa who topped the board examination in 2017-18 were also felicitated.
