Ek Lahr
Cat Video, Margao has released a video film by Joseph Pimenta. ‘Ek Lahr…’ is a tale of a selfish egoistic woman, who will go to any extent to achieve her desires.
Liston is Tracy’s good friend. He likes Nifa, wants to marry her and asks Tracy for help. But Tracy has other plans. She misuses the trust that Liston has in her, breaks up Liston’s love and manages to convince him to marry her. But that is not all. Later, she separates the husband from his family, cheats on him and takes over his wealth. And then, fate is tempted to intervene…..
The film is well-made, interesting and has a good message in the end. But in this age of quick and easy communication, why did the boy trust his friend, to get the answer from the girl he loved? Couldn’t he buy a cell phone, gift it to his girl and talk to her directly? Nancy Gomes and Elvis Mascarenhas play Tracy and Liston, the lead pair. Good acting, but sometimes a bit boisterous. Fawnia Pereira steals the show with a down to earth performance of the girl, Nifa, who is cheated by her best friend. Beautiful expression and right dialogue delivery. Rosario de Benaulim is perfect as the poor fisherman, Jim Gomes impresses in the role of the Parish Priest and Betty Alvares, Angela Moraes, Simon Gonsalves, Max Cabral and the young boy who plays the crippled brother, act well.
Music is by Lenoy Gomendes and the songs are pleasant and catchy. Joywin Fernandes has photographed this film, written and directed by Joseph Pimenta. A good effort and definitely worth watching.
‘JEZU KRIST PODVEDAR’
Victor d’Cunha is known on the Konkani stage for impressive songs on social issues. Valanka Productions, Quepem, has released a video album of songs and comic skits, titled ‘Jezu Krist Podvedar’, written and directed by Victor d’Cunha.
Victor begins with a tribute to the Lord on the title track, pleading with the faithful to have utmost faith in Jesus. Lawry sings ‘Franciskache Koxtt’ and Victor-Andrew-Agnelo present a trio, ‘Goemchi Doulot’ about the wealth of Goa that is destroyed by our politicians. Bushka continues with ‘Soirik’, a marriage that has gone wrong, Elvis renders ‘Beiman’, Victor with Andrew tells of ‘SEZ 2’ and Osvy Viegas sings of the greatness of Abraham Lincoln.
‘Ozarachi Nott’ by Rosario de Benaulim is impressive, ‘Divorce’ by Antonette de Calangute (filmed on Angela) with C D’Silva is tragic and ‘Tapot Marlem’ by William de Curtorim tells of how a guard was slapped while doing his duty. Norman Cardozo backs the songs with good arrangements and lively pleasant music. Kenny and Nato present good humorous skits, first with Veronic and later with Pascoal, Andrew and Agnel.
The video has some nice locales from our beautiful Goa. An enjoyable presentation.
