The countdown for the Miss Goa 2009-10 has just begun. The gala event that is being hosted by the VJT Group will kick start on April 17 at 7 p.m. at Palavra De Jardin, NH17, Nuvem.
Speaking during the press conference, Joseph A Dias, managing director of VJT Group mentioned, “This contest is the ideal platform for Goan girls to get into pageants all across the state. We are hosting this beauty pageant for the seventh consecutive time,” stated Mr Dias, who has an impressive track record in the last twenty-five years in promoting art, culture and musical shows, cultural fun festivals, exhibitions and fashion shows.
The top 10 finalists of this beauty pageant are–Karima Kiran Kerkar of Porvorim, Pearl Braganza of Verna, Fayrall Lerrisa Rodrigues of Nuvem, Merrill Judy Godinho of Vasco, Shaista Mehboob Shaik Vasco, Sakubai Pooja Konnur of Margao, Nuzhat Ansari of Aquem, Joanne L M Da Cunha of Alto Porvorim, Sparsha Makarand Deshpande, Fatorda and Sweta Regina Gomes, Vasco.
A panel of judges will judge the inherent charm, wit, talent and beauty of Miss Goa 2009-2010.
The judges for the contest are Mr Gurmeet Chaudhary (played Ram in ‘Ramayan,’ ‘Pati-Patni Aur Who’ and ‘Geet’ on Star One), Ms Debina Bonnerjee (played Sita in ‘Ramayan,’ ‘Pati-Patni Aur Who’) and Ms Sangeeta Kapure (South India actor of ‘Savgurn Sampan’ of Imagine channel fame).
Mr Romanch Mehta, noted choreographer and actor from Mumbai, is the choreographer for the event.
The contestants will score points for natural beauty, dress attire, intellect, poise and posture as well as confidence. The winner of Miss Goa 2009-2010 contest will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and gold worth Rs 15,000 besides gifts. The runners-up will be awarded cash Rs 10,000 plus gold worth Rs10,000 besides gifts.
There will also be three other titles–Miss Smile, Miss Talent and Miss Catwalk.
Adding spice and entertainment to the event will be Savia Da Costa with her classical dance, a vocal performance by Varun Carvalho, dance performances by Dance Illusions, Unbeatable Dance Academy and The Yellow Boys (Marcell Art). The host for the evening will be Ms Melba Leitao.
