‘Hanv Patki Kiteak?’
Samhen Productions have released their latest tiatr ‘Hanv Patki Kiteak?’ Written and directed by Samuel Carvalho, the director delivers yet another tiatr which has a stunning surprise at the end.
Sonia and Rohit are in love for the past five years. Sonia’s father wants her to marry a rich man in Mumbai and to please her father, she agrees. Sydney is a guy who loves to enjoy life, flirt with women and have fun at others’ cost especially when there is a cross connection on his mobile. Michelle is a widow with a differently abled child, Kiran. She is Sonia’s sister in law and lives with them. The fun loving Sydney and Kiran are very fond of each other, although the mother does not approve of this relationship.
One day Sonia returns home, from Mumbai, after being harassed and tortured by her husband Carlos, who is a drunk. Carlos follows her to Goa and begins living with them, creating a lot of problems and tension in the house. What happens later, between these characters, has to be watched on stage in this drama where each act ends with a question and culminates into a climax, with a beautiful twist.
Samuel Carvalho has to be complimented for the storyline. The script is good, and so is the setting. Pleasant music and timely light effects by Anthony are the other plus points. The director has also extracted good performances from the cast. Sonia does a fine act as Sonia, displaying the required emotions especially in the tragic scenes. Chitra acts well as Michelle and the young Priyanka, makes a fine debut as Bevinda. The girl has good stage presence and emotes well. Good performances come from Neville as Sydney, Romaldo as Rohit and Socooro de Sta Cruz as the father. Young Velbert impresses with his act of the differently abled child. Superb! Great going young boy. The comedy is enjoyable. Michael as Antonio, Socorro as his son and Valency, create plenty of humour that keeps the audience in splits.
Roy, Romeo, Stanley, Jolin and John provide the music to the various songs. There are good solos from veteran S Lemos, Romaldo, Socorro de Sta Cruz, Aniceto, Jacinto Cabral, duets from Aniceto –Socorro de Sta Cruz, Micheal-Sucorro, trios from Sonia-Osvi-Neville, Chitra-Velbert-Priyanka and a quartet from Michael-Valency-Sucorro-Romaldo. A thought provoking solo by Osvi Viegas needs special mention. A recent cartoon in a Mumbai based daily published in Goa, titled ‘Lost Supper’ by Laxman makes a mockery of the Last Supper of Lord Jesus with the ‘common man’ placed in the centre. The singer protests and questions, why no objections have been raised in protest against this blasphemy.
Don’t miss this ‘tiatr’. A must watch!
