‘Poilo Khell Mohotsov’ – First Festival of Khells - organised by Tiatr Academy Goa (TAG) will be held on February 24 and 25, 6 p.m. onwards at the Mini Open Air Auditorium, Kala Academy, Panaji.
Traditional Khells are very popular in the Salcete taluka and hundreds of shows of different khells take place during the Carnival days. In order that performances of these folk plays should be witnessed by the audience of Tiswadi, TAG has organised this Festival of Khells at Kala Academy, Panaji.
In all five khells will participate in this festival, the details of which are as follows:
Two khells namely ‘Maha Patki’ written by Vitorino Pereira and ‘Konnak Ravta’ written by Jack-Rodson will be performed on February 24 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. Another three folk plays namely ‘Bhurgeank Khelloita’ written by Menino de Bandar, ‘Tumi Korinakat’ written by Jack de Colva and ‘Kator’ written by Conceicao D’Silva will be staged on February 25 at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively.
Timoteo Fernandes will be the chief guest on the occasion and will inaugurate the First Festival of Khells. Mr Tomazinho Cardozo, president of TAG, will preside over the function.
There are no tickets. Admission is open to public.
