Kala Mogi Candolim in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa will organise an academic discussion on C Alvares’ contribution to Tiatr, its song and music. C Alvares, born on August 1, 1924, did wonders for the tiatr stage. He was one of the most popular heroes of the Konkani stage. He specialised in composing and singing duets on various social issues. Naturally he was called the “King of Duets”.

He excelled in Konkani Cinema too. Konkani cinemas namely “Amchem Noxib” and “Nirmonn”, in which he was the main protagonist, have broken records in Konkani cinema.
A special programme “Contribution of C Alvares to Konkani stage – A Discussion” on the occasion of his birth anniversary will be held on August 1 at 5 p.m. at TAG’s Conference Hall, Campal, Panaji. Mr Ciriaco Dias, a versatile tiatr artiste and colleague of late C Alvares will deliver a talk on C Alvares' contribution to tiatr. Sharon Mazarello, a Konkani singer of repute, will talk on C Alvares' songs particularly the Duets. President of TAG, Mr Tomazinho Cardozo will preside over the function.
