PANAJI: ‘Samudramudika’ a collection of Hindi book written by Ramesh Bhagwant Veluskar was released at the hands of Padmashri recipient Dr Suresh Amonkar on Monday at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Amonkar said that, Ramesh was a broadminded individual who had a vision to reach out to a global audience with his valuable insights. “A son of Goan soil- Ramesh is a multilingual writer, who is passionate and inquisitive to learn new languages wherever he travels. Moreover, his roots in the field of literature were spreading speedily, which is evident from his latest Hindi book,” stated Dr Amonkar.
He opined, “We receive education from schools, colleges, institutes, etc. However, in the case of Ramesh it is different. He likes to come up with creative ideas; he has some sort of a close relationship with nature which inspires him to write such beautiful poems.”
While reciting a few poems from ‘Samundramudrika’, Professor Ravindra Mishra, Department of Hindi, Goa University said that, “The book comprised of 55 poems touching on various topics such as, nature, social issues, culture, etc. Readers will understand the beauty of the book only after reading it.”
Addressing the gathering, Mr Arun Srivastava, senior journalist and assistant editor of the Navhind Times said, “When I received the copy of his latest book ‘Samudramudika’, I was surprised with his wonderful ideas that flowed gently.” He added saying, “An author is not called an author unless he can play well with words. In this book, I can see that Ramesh has done a good job.”
Earlier, Mr N Shivdas, the President of the Goa Konkani Academy said, “Ramesh is Goan and his image is depicted through his poems. It is important that we should give preference to our mother tongue as well as national language. Ramesh is the best example for us to strengthen the official language of the state along with the national language in order to give wide exposure to our thoughts around the globe.”
Talking on the occasion, Dr Vasudev Sawant, Associate professor, Goa University said that, “We should not only contribute in our regional languages. We are Indians first, so along with contributing to the literature in our local languages we should contribute to the literature in our national language too.”
