‘Mahan Majho Des’ the first audio album of Konkani songs on National integration produced by Tomazinho Cardozo in collaboration with Department of Information and Publicity was released at the hands of Mr Filip Neri Rodrigues, Minister for Water Resources at the Maquinez palace in Panaji.
On the occasion, a book named ‘Mahan Majho Des’, containing the lyrics of the songs was also released by Mr Rodrigues. These lyrics have been written in Devnagari and Roman script. The Chief Guest on the occasion, Mr Rodrigues said, “This audio CD is a medium to bring young generation closer to national integration. The present generation is attracted towards technology, economics and the information evolution movement.
We also require that our moral values, culture, tradition gifted to us by our forefathers should be carried forward. Our future is in the hands of children and it is therefore necessary to shape our young generation.”
Mr Rodrigues congratulated all the artistes who have been a part of the making of the audio CD. He felicitated them all by giving them a copy each of the CD. All the twelve songs from the audio CD were played at the function as a promo.
Mr Tomazinho Cardozo, the producer of the album stated, “This album is dedicated to my school principal, who although was a mathematics teacher always gave us guidance and perspective on the history of India. He is the person who played a vital role in my life, and who enkindled in me love for my nation. He ignited the spark in me and thus, created in me a spirit to write songs on national integration.”
Mr Menino Peres, Director of Information and Publicity department in his speech said, “The audio CD has a blend of western and Indian music. The government supports producers by giving an 80% grant to bring out the CD on nation.” Mr Naredra Kumar, Chief Secretary of Goa urged the people to think about nationalism and unity. Music composer Mukesh Ghatwal, was present on the dais.
