Lady with the Golden Voice to perform at Cuncolim

MARGAO: Goa will get to hear the one with the inimitable, golden voice – Lorna -tomorrow. AVG social and cultural association, Cuncolim, in coordination with the directorate of Art and Culture, will host the nightingale on May 29 near the Cuncolim bus stand. The show will start from 7 p.m.

Lorna, who hails from Saligao, was born in Mumbai on August 9, 1946 and was brought up there.  She was the third of six kids born to Theophilus and Cecelia Cordeiro - 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
She got into music after she got in touch with music genius, Chris Perry and went on to become very popular. She sang for him in his 24 piece band from the age of 15 for nine years. She sang in English, basically as a Jazz singer in star hotels and night clubs, not only in Mumbai but also in Delhi, Calcutta, Madras and Bangalore. 
Lorna songs from the 60s and 70s  like ‘Pisso’, ‘Bebdo’, ‘Red Rose Tuzo Mog’ and ‘Noxibak Rodta’ have become hits and remain etched in the memory of those fortunate enough to have heard them.
Along with Lorna other Goan singers like C D Silva, Sammy, Normadez will also perform.
