Kala Academy celebrates its annual day

Celebrating the annual day of the faculty of music and dance of Kala Academy recently, the chief guest on the occasion Ms Vijayadevi Rane honoured the successful students of the three year course with certificates at various stages of dance, vocal and instrumentalist.

The chairman of Kala Academy, Mr Pratapsing Rane in his speech spoke about making the academy a premiere institute in the country with facilities for dance and music. Expressing his feelings about art he said it was a expression that took one closer to God. All this comes to us as our inheritance down the ages. Parents should create some interest among the children to acquire this inheritance. Mr Rane further explained the plan decided in the meeting of the general council to carry out a competition in classical dance, instrumental and vocal art. This would take place sometime during the coming year.
The member secretary, Kala Academy, Dr Pandurang Phaldessai requested all parents of the students to support them with necessary address and mobile number to avail of the updates of various programmes.
Besides the above dignitaries, the well-known sitarist, Ustad Chhote Rahimat Khan, vocal teacher, Pandit Dinkar Panshikar and the director of the administration of Kala Academy, Ms Candida Fernandes were also present.
