Things came to a crescendo on the final day of The Grape Escapade 2012 as music, wine and delectable food enthralled the crowds thronging the Inox Courtyard, Panaji.
The organisers and visitors to the 8th edition of the Grape Escapade 2012 maintain that this year’s festival was the best in terms of attendance, operations, flow and offerings. It attracted a record 25,000 people over the four evenings, almost 5000 more people than last year.
Melvyn A Vaz, managing director, GTDC says, “Apart from being the only festival of its kind in Goa, this has to be the most enjoyable festival to date. It was absolutely packed on Saturday and Sunday, but not uncomfortably because of the well-planned layout.”
Kingfisher Voice of Goa, Melwyn Noronha set the tone for the evening with his soulful rendition of popular English tracks. It was followed by jazz and blues performance by Carlos and friends. Moodsetters Alfie and Jessica made sure there was never a dull moment.
Adding to the vibrancy, were the African Safari Cats.
Sanjay Shetye, event manager, says “It just gets bigger and better every year, but it takes a lot of hard work and planning. I believe the festival adds economic value to Goa every year as it brings together restaurateurs, wineries, and hospitality and lifestyle players.”
The Grape Escapade Queen contest was the highlight of the Grand Finale. This year the title was won by Minolta Fernandes. Crowning was done by Mr Melvyn Vaz, managing director and Mr Aditya Pethe of Waman Hari Pethe in presence of Sanjay Shetye of Vinsan Graphics, Bernadeta D’Souza, general manager, GTDC, Dy general manager, GTDC, Laxmikant Vaigankar and Sachin Gore.
