Goa Revolution Day celebrated amidst music in Pune

PANAJI – Young and budding Goan artistes performed at a musical concert titled ‘Gomantswar’ in Pune. The concert was presented by Vaishnavi Creations, Margao The packed auditorium at the Tilak Smarak Mandir, Pune was proof enough of the interest generated among music lovers from Pune for the event which was organised on the occasion of Goa Revolution Day by Pune Goans’ Social Union, Pune, in association with the Department of Art and Culture.

The musical extravaganza began with the invocation song ‘Gananayakay Ganadhishaya’ presented by Rajesh Madgaonkar to the accompaniment of a splendid dance performance by child artiste, Prutha Parrikar. This was followed by Mugdha Gaonkar’s rendition of ‘Goenche Naav Vhad Karun’, a composition of Bakibab Borkar and was sung to pay homage to the freedom fighters. Akanksha Kamat, Ashwek Shanbhag, Mugdha Gaonkar and Annapurna Sakhardande then presented popular songs like ‘Chanyache Rati’, ‘Shravanat Ghan Nila’, ‘Naravara Krishna Saman’ and ‘Maze Rani Maze Moga’, among others.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame finalist Abhilasha Chellam took to the stage with a popular ‘mujra’ number ‘Dil Chiz Kya Hai’ from the film ‘Umrao Jaan’. The budding dancer from Goa, Vaishnavi Pai Cacode’s mesmerizing dance performance enthralled the audiences. The performance received a big applause from the audiences. Konkani film actress, Lalan Dessai was the compere for the function.

Kunti Makwana and Apravi Kamat later presented a fabulous dance performances danced to live music sung by Abhilasha Chellam, Apoorva Gajjala and Annapurna Sakhardande. Kunti danced to the song ‘Vande Mataram’, while Apravi Kamat showed her finesse in foot tapping in ‘Aaja Nachale Meri Jaan’. The lavani dance presented by Prutha Parrikar on Apoorva Gajjala’s live song ‘Cham Cham Karta’ saw the crowd giving an enthusiastic response to the artistes.

Earlier, Prof. Vithaldas Nagvekar, a member of the Goa State Cultural Development Committee lit the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration of Revolutionary Day celebrations, in the presence of Ramesh Hodarkar, Dattaprasad Sawkar, Naresh Timble and Vishal Pai Cacode. The daughter of poet B B Borkar, Padma Vajram Aiyangar and many other prominent Goans were present for the event.
