The Kala Academy, Panaji organised a Folk Art Festival at the open air auditorium recently. Traditional folk dances like ‘talo’, ‘dhalo’, ‘kunbi dance’, ‘morulo’, ‘zaagor’, ‘ghodemodni’ and others were performed by the groups.
The folk dance ‘ghode modni’ from Bicholim depicted the exploits of the Ranes against the Portuguese. The ‘morulo’ dance depicted the movements of a peacock and ‘zagor’ is a cultural activity presented in different villages of Goa in different styles also enacted by troupes. It was a good opportunity for the audience to learn about Goa’s rich culture of folk music and dance.
