Film: Apartment, Cast: Neetu Chandra, Tanushree Dutta, Rohit Roy, Directed by: Jagmohan Mundhra, Duration: 105 mins, Rating: * 1 / 2
Barring a similarity in its title, Apartment has no connection whatsoever with the 1960 Billy Wilder Jack Lemmon classic, The Apartment. Instead, this one is a straight lift from a 1990s Hollywood flick, Single White Female starring Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
So we have Tanushree Dutta playing an airhostess, a single female living on her own before her boyfriend (Rohit Roy) moves in with her. Due to some misunderstanding he is kicked out and the female is back to square one. She is looking for someone to share the apartment and enter Neetu Chandra a demure girl who has come from a small town. Initially, she appears to be very nice and caring but there is more to her than meets the contact lenses. Anupam Kher plays the next door neighbour whose cat becomes her victim with a few more to follow.
The story of the film is shallow and the execution is no better. It hardly throws in any surprises what so ever. The item number and other songs only add to your woes. Technically the film is more of a slap than a dash. On the acting front, the ladies have a major role to play and none of them make any impact. The tagline of the film says, rent it at your own risk. Watch it at your own risk would be more apt.
