‘Konknni Cholchitram’ (Konkani Films), a book on Konkani films produced over the last 60 years - from ‘Mogacho Avando’ to ‘Mogachi Zor’ and ‘Bhuyarantlo Munis’ to ‘Paltadcho Munis’ - was released on Tuesday at an impressive ceremony in the city.

The book has been sponsored and launched by ‘Goa Sudharop’, a community development Inc, based in USA. Noted tiatrist and president of the Tiatr Akademi of Goa, Mr Tomazinho Cardozo released the book in the presence of Goan film personalities, Dharmanand Vernekar and Sanjeev Prabhudesai, and theatre personality, Praveen Sabnis.
The writer of the book, Isidore Dantas and the executive director of ‘Goa Sudharop’, Mr Ebonio D’Souza were also present on the occasion. The book had its US release in California earlier this year on April 4, on the 10th anniversary of ‘Goa Sudharop’.
The event  began with songs from Konkani films ‘Don Kalzan’, ‘Yo Moga’ and ‘Bhekdaayta Pai’ (Amchem Noxib), ‘Juramento Nokhetrachem’ (Sukhachem Sopon), as well as ‘Sukh Aaylem Loton’ and ‘Neemane Besao’ (Bonglaat) presented by Succor de St Cruz and Sonia. A traditional dance was also performed on the occasion by the students of the Fr Agnelo College.
