Audio Review by J P Pereira - Tribute to Fr Thomas

Manfa Music, Margao presents Edwin D’Costa’s tribute to Fr Thomas, on an audio album with the same title. Fr Thomas was the young priest who drowned while trying to save the life of others.

The opening song ‘Fr Thomas’ is the tribute to the late priest by Marcus Vaz. Good lyrics that touch your heart. ‘Goenche Montri’ by Edwin-Anthony-Manuxin is about uneducated Goan ministers; ‘Goenche Ghantti’ by Joanna is a humorous look at migrants and Manuxin’s ‘Gorib ani Girest’ tells of the discrimination made between the rich and the poor.
Sonia and Mini Mario sing ‘Uzo Pettlo’, followed by a trio about ‘Goa Police’ and ‘Atanchim Cheddvam’ by Selvy. The lyrics, tell about the misconduct of girls but do not castigate boys, who are equally responsible for this misbehaviour.
Anthony de Nuvem pleads with youngsters to save ancestral property on ‘Paichem Ghor, Norman Cardozo renders ‘Old Goa’ in style and another trio ‘Goenche Roste’, by Edwin-Xavier Gomes-Andrew, follows. There is a critical look at the ‘Government Hospitalam’ by Edwin d’Costa, ‘Xikop’, about the importance of education, by Pascoal de Calangute and Norman and Xavier Gomes renders the final track about the recent ‘Plane Crash’ in Mangalore.
The lyrics are by Edwin, and Norman Cardozo (keyboards) backs the songs with great orchestration and fillers. Accompanying him is Chris (guitar), Sergei (bass), John (drums), Agnelo (trumpet) and Victor (violin).
