IRCS Salcete elects new managing committee


Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Salcete hosted their annual general body meeting at Alua, Verna followed by the election of new managing committee for the triennium year 2019-22.

The function began with floral tributes paid to the founder of Red Cross, Jean Henri Durant followed by lighting of the lamp. One minute of silence was observed for global peace and harmony.

Chairman of IRCS Salcete, Shibu Raghunathan presented the activities of IRCS Salcete for the past four years. He highlighted that twenty-two blood donation camps, eight health and awareness camps, one basic first-aid course and two tree plantation projects that were organised during this period by the Salcete unit of IRCS. He also highlighted his contribution along with that of Suvarna Fonseca during the Nepal earthquake disaster relief.

Secretary of IRCS Salcete, Mangirish Naik Raiker announced the list of newly inducted members. Treasurer, KP Angle presented the accounts. IRCS state general secretary, Subhash Salkar congratulated the Salcete Chapter of IRCS for being an active and a vibrant unit. He also highlighted the initiative taken upon by the state unit to activate the taluka level units. He insisted upon the extension of Red Cross to the college level in the state of Goa.

The election proceedings were conducted by Salkar. The newly appointed committee for the triennium year 2019-22 is chairman, Shibu Reghunathan; vice-chairman, Suvarna Fonseca; treasurer, KP Angle; secretary, Sachin Kakodkar, and members, Mangirish Naik Raiker, Ashesh Keni, Manoj Hede, Stanley Joseph, Rakesh Agarwal and Dattaram Bhise. The oath of IRCS was administered to the newly appointed committee members by Subash Salkar.
