Vision of Goa in 2035

A one-day seminar “Implementing Goa 2035: Vision and Road Map - the Challenge Ahead” will be held on August 12 from 9 am to 6 pm at The International Centre Goa, Dona Paula. The Goa Golden Jubilee Development Council (GGJDC) under the chairmanship of Dr R A Mashelkar was constituted by the Government of Goa to prepare a vision for development of Goa for the next quarter of a century.

GGJDC recently submitted its report “Goa 2035: Vision and Road Map” to the Government of Goa.  The report is available at: www.goa2035.in.
The report has been well received by the elected representatives of the state in the Goa State Assembly.  The report garnered support from across the floor of the house, when a motion congratulating GGJDC was tabled in the house for preparing an excellent vision and roadmap for development of the state from now to 2035. The Chief Minister of Goa, Mr Manohar Parrikar desired to have a public discussion and debate on this report.
The International Centre Goa is organising this seminar with the view that any vision document can only be as good as how well it is implemented.
Mr Parrikar has been invited to inaugurate the seminar in presence of Leader of Opposition, Mr Pratapsing Rane. Dr R A Mashelkar, Chairman of Goa Golden Jubilee Development Council will deliver the Keynote Address.
The seminar is aimed to bring together the top thought leaders of Goa as well as the echelons of the government machinery that must ultimately implement the ideas contained in the report. The seminar would be the first step in moving in the right direction for the state’s development during the next quarter of a century.
The GGJDC report has identified seven themes for its vision.
Suramya or Serene and Beautiful Goa; Susanskrit or Cultured Goa, Santulit or Balanced and Sustainable Goa, Suvidya or Knowledge Centric, Enlightened Goa, Samruddha or Affluent Goa, Sushasit or Well Governed Goa, Swanandi or Happy Goa.
The speakers of the seminar are Adv Cleofato Almeida Coutinho, practicing advocate, faculty of G R Kare College of Law and former member of Goa Law Commission. Mr Damodar Mauzo, Sahitya Akademi Awardee, novelist, short story and screenplay writer and columnist. Mr Darryl Pereira, entrepreneur, founder and managing director, Reira Group. Dr Oscar Rebello, practicing doctor and social activist. Mr Prabhakar Timble, educationist, legal expert and former Commissioner, Goa State Election Commission. Mr Rahul Deshpande, practicing architect and former member of State Level Committee (SLC) on Goa’s Regional Plan 2021. Mr Yatin Kakodkar, director - Apex Packaging Products Pvt Ltd, member - managing committee, GCCI, former president, CII – Goa.
