Body tattoo art is as old as civilization itself, as there are reports that tattoos were traced even to Egyptian mummies. But, thanks to globalisation tattoos are the ‘in’ thing and has turned into serious business.
But, one needs to be very careful before you inking oneself. “Nowadays, due to media exposure, people are exposed to tattoo art and consider it as a fashion trend. But, actually you should never go for tattooing if you look upon it as fashion,” says Duncan Viegas, tattoo artist of Kraayonz, a tattoo studio based in Baga.
He believes that tattoos should be something you can relate to throughout your life, as it is permanent and remains with you always. “There is no such thing as latest trends in tattoos. These are images that you can connect to,” confirms Duncan.
However, he says that name tattoos are the most common tattoos. But he adds one caution. “I think rather than putting your wife’s or girlfriend’s name, putting names of your parents or children is more acceptable as they are permanent in nature.”
While making a tattoo we may like to have it on a particular part of the body, but Duncan advices that it depends on the design. “Some designs may look better on a particular area,” he adds.
Girls mostly like to do tattoos on the back, ankles, arms, etc.
There are also some clients who love to do tattoos where it hurts the most like the ribcage area.
