As a tribute to its founder Mr Vishwasrao Chowgule, the August 25 will be celebrated as Founder’s Day at Smt Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science starting this year onwards. The birth anniversary of the visionary leader, Founder’s Day aims to instill a higher vision of excellence in its students and staff.
Chowgule College’s first Founder’s Day celebration will host the acclaimed author Chetan Bhagat at the campus for an interactive session with the students.
The author of four blockbuster novels, ‘Five Point Someone’, ‘One Night @ the Call Center’, ‘The 3 Mistakes of my Life’ and ‘2 States’, Chetan Bhagat is seen more as a youth icon, than as an author.
Chetan quit his international investment banking career in 2009, to devote his time to writing and making change happen in the country. A popular name on college campuses across the country, Chetan Bhagat will deliver the key note address at the Founder’s Day celebration at Chowgule College next week. He will speak on the subject of Motivation and successfully managing failure by sharing some of his personal experiences with the students.
The celebrations are being held in honour of the illustrious founder Mr Vishwasrao Chowgule.
Regarded as one of the pioneer of industrialisation in the state, Mr Chowgule fought against the odds to create what he believed in. A philanthropist at heart, he founded Smt Parvatibai Chowgule College in the year 1962. Founded in memory of his mother, the college was inaugurated by a woman, the then External Minister, Mrs Lakshmi Menon on June 23, 1962. Since then the college has come a long way under the able guidance of the trustees of the Chowgule College Society and has achieved numerous milestones in field of education, sports, academics and cultural events.
Says Dr R V Gaonkar, Principal, Chowgule College, “Our founder, Mr Vishwasrao Chowgule was committed to creating a centre for excellence in the field of education. In keeping with his vision we are constantly innovating to offer students the best in terms of academics, infrastructure, teaching skills and thought leadership. While academics is extremely important, we lay an equal emphasis on instilling sound values, inspiring higher thought and motivating our students to achieve success to the best of their abilities. This initiative on Founder’s Day is another step in that direction”
Founder’s Day will be celebrated at Chowgule College, Margao on August 25 from 10 a.m. onwards.
